Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies face a tough test on Sunday when they lock horns with city rivals Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the Hollywoodbets Super League derby set for the Wits Stadium. The kick-off for the much-awaited showdown is at 11:30am.
Downs Ladies go into this game as wounded tigers after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat to the University of the Western Cape (UWC) this past Sunday. The loss saw UWC become the first team to beat Banyana Ba Style since the formation of the Super League.
“That defeat was a stark reminder of the task we have ahead of the season,” said the Brazilians’ head coach JerryTshabalala.
“We are looking forward to the fixture because we need to remind everyone that we are the continental champions.”
On the other hand, TUT played out to a frustrating goalless draw with Thunderbirds Ladies last weekend and will look to redeem themselves.
As things stand, the Brazilians are placed second with 12 points from five outings, whereas TUT sits in the eighth position with eight points after four games.
Meanwhile, the Super League weekend fixtures will see eight mouthwatering matches taking the centre stage across the country.
