Lewandowski won’t extend contract amid Barcelona links

Bayern Munich goal poacher Robert Lewandowksi has made it clear that he will “not sign a new contract” with the club.

This is after Bayern said the lethal frontman wanted to leave the side at the end of the season, with his contract set to end on 30 June, 2023.

Speaking after scoring in Bayern’s 2-all draw away at Wolfsburg, final match of the Bundesliga campaign, Lewandowski said: “I told the club that if an offer comes in, then we have to think about it – also for the club.”

“We have to find the best solution for both sides. But, I won’t sign a new contract.”

The Polish international has scored 344 goals in 374 appearances for Bayern, having joined them back in 2014 from Borussia Dortmund.

He is the club’s second-highest scorer of all-time behind Gerd Muller.

The 33-year-old forward has won the league in all eight of his seasons at Bayern and also won the Champions League in 2019/20.

According to reports, Lewandowski is linked with a move to Spanish giants, Barcelona.
