Liverpool confirm Origi’s exit

Liverpool have confirmed the departure of frontman, Divock Origi.

The Belgian international will leave the Reds when his contract expires at the end of June.

According to reports, the 27-year-old is expected to join Italian giants AC Milan.

Origi made a name for himself since joining Liverpool in 2015 from Lille with a string of iconic goals, most notably his comeback-sealing double against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals and his stoppage-time winner against Everton in 2019.

He has 41 goals from 175 appearances for Liverpool and contributed 18 assists in the process.

The striker was unable to feature in Liverpool’s final home game of the campaign when they thrashed Wolves 3-1 in the Premier League due to an injury.

However, the side paid tribute to him after the match. He emerged from the tunnel to a guard of honour from his teammates while carrying the FA Cup Liverpool won earlier in May.

“Thank you for an incredible eight years of service and for leaving us with so many special memories,” read the club’s statement.
