Chiefs humble Chippa away from home

Kaizer Chiefs out-fought Chippa United to claim a 3-1 victory in the DStv Premiership clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday evening.

Chiefs looked bright in the early stages of the contest as they attacked in numbers – searching for an opener.

Samir Nurkovic broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute of the showdown to put Amakhosi in front.

Chippa improved as the half progressed, but failed to pull one back.

The first half’s intensity waned slightly but the Soweto giants remained on top.

The showpiece went into the interval with the Chilli Boys trailing behind by 1-0.

A sensational second half, saw the home side find an equaliser through Bienvenu Eva Nga in the 46th minute.

Having levelled matters, Kurt Lentjies’s troops continued to pile up pressure on the visitors.

However, the unfazed Glamour Boys regained momentum, with more chances being created.

In the 75th minute, super-sub Keegan Dolly scored a stunner to put back Chiefs in the lead.

Cole Alexander, who also came off from the bench, added to the scoreline to make it 3-1 in the 88th minute of the second stanza.

In the end, it was Stuart Baxter’s side who claimed all the valuable three points away from home.
