Downs thrash 10-man Galaxy to open up 18 point gap

Mamelodi Sundowns continued with their remarkable fine form with a 3-0 win over TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday night.

It is looking like a case of definitely rather than maybe for Bafana Ba Style – and Downs’ technical team is loving it.

It was the visitors who started the match the better, with Lyle Lakay and Khuliso Mudau enjoying possession in the wide areas.

Masandawana took the lead in the 19th minute of the showdown through the ever consistent Mudau.

Just four minutes after the restart, Lindokuhle Mbatha was sent off to take an early shower after he was shown a second yellow card.

The Brazilians began to knock the ball around as they settled following the opening goal, but they struggled to create any chances of note.

The home side tried to find an equaliser before the half-time break, but their efforts were fruitless.

The game went into the interval with the Mpumalanga-based outfit trailing behind by 1-0.

In the second stanza, the defending champions continued to enjoy a period of possession, as they pushed forward in numbers.

Sead Ramovic’s side was totally floored by the Tshwane club and failed to break their opponents’ defence.

The former African champions never slowed down as they added two more goals courtesy of Hashim Domingo in the 63rd minute and Peter Shalulile in the 79th minute of the second period.

In the end, it was Sundowns who claimed all three points to open up 18 points gap on top of the table.
