Hlanti vows to bounce back stronger

Kaizer Chiefs defender Sifiso Hlanti, who is on the road to recovery from an Achilles tendon injury, has
vowed to bounce back stronger.

The full-back suffered the injury last year during a training session and is expected to miss the remainder
of the 2021/22 season.

“We were playing 11 v 11; it was a diagonal pass across the field to my left-hand side. I took a run; it was
a full sprint. When I got to the ball, that is where the incident happened, it was like a gunshot, but I had
damaged my Achilles tendon,” Hlanti told Kaizer Chiefs TV.

“I went to the specialist and was told I need to do an operation. I was told the recovery was the most
the important thing, of which if the operation goes well, I will come back strong.”

As the operation was successful, the defender is happy and in good spirits waiting to fully recover.

“I’m feeling better, and there is progress since I’m doing my rehab.”

The former Swallows left-back, who only has seven starts after joining Amakhosi, further stated his
frustrations as this was not how he imagined starting his career with the Glamour Boys.

“The frustrating part is that it will take at least four months to recover. I was so emotional because I’m
passionate about football. I always tell myself that whatever incident I might face in my career, I need to
take it with a positive attitude.”

The 31-year-old further added that the damaged Achilles tendon setback is the first long term injury he
has suffered in his career.

“I’ve never been in this kind of situation or experienced a major injury,” he added.

With only seven games remaining in the league this campaign, Hlanti hopes the team will finish strong
and in a better position as he continues to prepare himself for the upcoming season.
