Kerr hails Swallows ‘never say die spirit’

Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr has hailed his players’ never say die spirit after bouncing back twice to draw 2-2 with SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership encounter. The Birds are fighting hard to avoid the relegation axe with just two games left before the curtain comes down on the 2021/22 season.

Kerr says his players need to believe in themselves and continue with the same positive character they displayed against Supersport United to survive the relegation.

15th placed Dube Birds came back twice to salvage a valuable point at Lucas Moripe Stadium, giving them some glimpse of hope of surviving the drop.

“I wish and hope that they believe in themselves more in the next two games. We need to win the next two games. Previous results have not gone our way [TS Galaxy and Baroka],” Kerr said.

“Credit to the players, great comeback, great character. The good thing is we didn’t lose; we still got two big games to come up.”

“The character today was fantastic. We kept going; we never gave up. After the first goal, we took the game to them. Maybe I watched the game wrong, but I think there was one football team today, and that was Swallows FC,” Kerr added.

The result left the Soweto outfit still positioned 15th on the log with 24 points from 28 outings, two points off safety with two games left to finish the 2021/22 season. They will face Chippa United (H) in their last two games and wrap up the season with a Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs (A).
