Letsoalo has point to prove after slow start

Bafana Bafana and Sekhukhune United frontman Victor Letsoalo has revealed that he has a point to prove after a sluggish start to the new season.

The striker completed a shock move to Babina Noko from Royal AM on a reported fee of R3.5 million after being linked with a potential move to the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

Letsoalo is yet to find the back of the net this campaign from all three league games he has featured thus far.

The 29-year-old struggled to stamp his influence when his side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to newcomers Richards Bay away from home over the weekend.

He left Thwihli Thwahla revered as one of the KwaZulu-Natal club’s deadliest strikers, but returns back home with a point to prove.

“Football is all about pressure,” Letsoalo told the media.

“So, since I came back to play here in Limpopo, there will be some challenges just like before and to score goals like I used to.

“I just have to work hard and prove that I’m one who can score goals for our team in order to achieve our goals as a team.”

However, Letsoalo’s ability has never been in doubt, the 16 goals he scored for his former club last season is a testimony to the ruthless streak that made him such a formidable striker.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune head coach Kaitano Tembo has backed the star forward together with his fellow attackers [ Tshegofatso Mabasa, Tashreeq Morris, Chibuike Ohizu, Prince Nxumalo and Wonderboy Makhubu] after their slow starts to the new DStv Premiership term.

“We have got a lot of top goalscorers in the team, but firstly, they need to be brothers and know each other better. I think with time; when they start gelling, we will start seeing a lot of goals and good football coming out of these guys,” said the ex-SuperSport United mentor.

Sekhukhune will play their next league match against the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 20 August at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
