Letsoalo’s solo goal sees Royal AM beat resilient Sekhukhune

Royal AM out-fought Sekhukhune United to claim a 1-0 victory in their DStv Premiership clash at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Babina Noko started the showdown on the front foot, zipping the ball about and keeping the hosts at arm’s length.

But after that, Sekhukhune were pushed back by the KwaZulu-Natal club, who although not at their best at the time.

However, MacDonald Makhubedu’s side regrouped well, pushing forward in numbers – searching for an opener.

After a topsy-turvy first half, the showpiece went into the interval with a 0-0 scoreline.

Back out for the remaining 45, AM began the second stanza virtually identically to the first and they looked the more dangerous side.

In the 49th minute, the Bafana Bafana international frontman Victor Letsoalo found the back of the net to put his team in front.

The home side continued to control the majority of the second period, with the hope of adding another goal, however, it never happened.

The unfazed Limpopo-based outfit pushed and pushed to claw their way back into the match, but there was to be no late equaliser and it ended empty-handed from a frustrating night for Sekhukhune.

Meanwhile, in the other result, SuperSport United succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
