Maema singles out season’s highlight

Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Neo Maela says playing in the CAF Champions League and winning his first league title was the highlight of the 2021/22 season. The 26-year-old joined Masandawana at the beginning of the campaign from Bloemfontein Celtic.

The attacking midfielder had a great season winning three trophies; the MTN8, DStv Premiership and the Nedbank Cup. He was of great help to the Tshwane outfit netting three goals and providing seven assists in 35 games in all competitions.

“For me personally it’s the CAF experience, traveling up and down the continent. It meant a lot to me and also winning the league because it is something that I have been praying for the better part of my career and I am just glad that we clinched that,” Maema told the club media.

“As a team to reach these milestones, to break so many records and to be a part of it, winning the MTN8 after so long was actually beautiful and I want to honour the opportunity.”

Maema will be aiming to help the Brazilians add more titles in their trophy cabinet in the upcoming season which starts in August.
