Mngqithi applauds Shalulile’s fine form

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi was quick to applaud the performance of his hat-trick hero Peter Shalulile following their 4-2 win over relegation zone threatened Swallows FC in the DStv Premiership clash on Wednesday night.

The Namibian international became the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2021/22 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

Shalulile is currently the PSL leading top goalscorer with 18 goals, having played 24 league games for Masandawana this season.

The 28-year-old forward is also the first PSL player to score 18 goals since the 2011/12 season when Siyabonga Nomvethe managed to find the back of the net on 20 occasions in the Dube Birds’ colours.

Coach Mngqithi has praised the lethal frontman for his consistency and giving his all in the field of play.

“Credit must be given to Peter for the three goals that he has scored,” said Mngqithi.

“The most important thing with Peter [is that] he deserves that reward of scoring goals because he’s one of the most professional players I have ever worked with in my career.

“He is one player that never puts his foot wrong in terms of giving himself, giving his heart to the team.

“I’m sure everyone in the club is excited to have a player like him because he’s such a good role model. Even when things are going well for him, he works the hardest in the team, and that’s very important.”
