Nhlapo explains the shifting of positions

The shifting of positions from right back to midfield for SuperSport United player Siyabonga Nhlapo means growth.

Nhlapo seemingly enjoys playing in the middle of the park and says he is ready to play in any position for the team’s benefit.

“I am growing; it shows growth; that’s the most important component of being a footballer,” he said.

“As a footballer, you must progress from your academy years and then progress to the first team, but the progression has to be with growth, not with age.”

Due to several injuries in the SuperSport camp, the experienced Nhlapo has been deployed to play in midfield and as a centre back.

“I won’t limit myself in that role [as a defensive midfielder]. I will learn as much as possible, luckily for me, I have got coach Andre [ Arendse ]and the entire technical team and, most positively, coach [Thabo] September, who was a centre back, so I am under a lot of guidance,” added Nhlapo.

“And Ronwen [Williams] with his experience as a goalkeeper and his message to me, how he directs as the back four, going forward and carrying the team.

“I can adjust to that, but I need to grow and learn as fast as possible so that my adjustment can help the team, contribute to the team and ensure I, marshall, the boys and work well with whoever I am partnered with.”

Matsatsantsa will travel to Polokwane to take on Marumo Gallants in a league game on Saturday evening.
