PSL confirms Parker suspended for Stellies tie

Stuart Baxter will most likely view Bernard Baxter’s suspension as a blow, while some sections of Kaizer Chiefs fans will see it as a blessing in disguise.

Chiefs will be without veteran attacker Parker for the DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday (17:00).

Parker is suspended for one game, having picked up a yellow card over the weekend in the 1-0 defeat to SuperSport, United, making it four yellow cards this campaign.

The 36-year-old has been a regular starter under Baxter, who believes the former Bafana Bafana international is an essential member of the club.

However, the coach has been criticised for playing Parker, with some of the Chiefs fans calling for the head of Baxter and the player to be released.

Parker has walked away with several Man of the Match awards this season and has earned 22 appearances with four goals and two assists in all competitions.

Most recently, Baxter said that Parker does not get the praise he deserves.

“Bernard thrives on stretching himself as a person, as a player and to being what Kaizer Chiefs need him to be,” said the Amakhosi coach.

“If he sits in the stands, he will be the best player in the stands, and if he sits on the bench, he will be a great bench player. That is his attitude.”
