Relegation D-DAY for Baroka

It certainly is not looking good for Baroka as they go into their last two games of the season! The Limpopo side, who are perched at the basement of the DStv Premiership table, could find themselves relegated to the GladAfrica Championship if they fail to beat SuperSport United on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Of course, their fate will then hinge on other games. If Swallows (24) win against Chippa United and TS Galaxy (26) beat Marumo Gallants, it will be the end for Bakgaga in the top division. With 22 points from 28 matches, Baroka will desperately need to win their game to take the fight to the last day of the season on Saturday, 21 May [depending on other results].

But interim head coach Vincent Kobola says they will give everything and fight until the end.

“We are prepared, and we have told ourselves that these two games will be like a Cup final. We have to put everything we have, and that’s why we want to go all out and attack,” Kobola told FARPost at the club’s training grounds in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, on Wednesday.

“The idea is to survive all together, but if we have to go to the playoffs, we will take it because it would be a second chance and also, you must remember it’s not in our hands.

“We can win our two games, and the other teams also win their two games, so it’s a situation that we find ourselves in because if it was in our hands, you know that you win these once, then you are guaranteed, but for us, we have to rely on other teams on the other side,” he said.

“It’s not all lost. We will fight until the end.”
