Sekhukhune sign trio including Shonga

Sekhukhune United have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the second round in the DStv Premiership with the acquisition of attackers Justin Shonga, Evans Rusike and defender LuckyBoy Mokoena.

The trio was unveiled by the club on Tuesday afternoon.

The details of the players’ contract were not revealed, with Shonga joining the Premiership club after leaving Egyptian side Ismaily SC, Rusike from SuperSport United and Mokoena from TS Galaxy.

“It is an awesome feeling to be back in the DStv Premiership,” said Shonga, who has had stints at Orlando Pirates, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Cape Town City.

“However, the environment is totally different to Ismaily in the Egyptian Soccer League. The Egyptian environment is conducive to focus on football.

“I feel at home. My main priority is to help the team to accumulate more points going forward to finish in a respectable position. However, I will work hard to get my form back so that I can contribute immensely to the team’s success,” added the Zambian hitman.

Meanwhile, Rusike said he is eager to contribute to the club’s success and revealed that his goal is to help Babina Noko clinch some silverware. “I am looking forward to the exciting season, and I will do my best to ensure that Babina Noko stays where it belongs,” said the 31-years old Zimbabwean international.

“I am excited to be part of Babina Noko’s family. However, I’m going to work hard to maintain a good team image.”

Mokoena added that he would like to thank Sekhukhune technical team and management for believing is capable of adding value to the club. “One thing I will make do is to deliver and to improve the club,” he said.

The 28-year-old also had a run at Chippa United, Ubuntu Cape Town, Real Kings, Highlands Park.
