Swallows retain DStv Prem status as they see off Tuks

Swallows FC are safe and remain in the DStv Premiership following their 1-0 win over AmaTuks in the final match of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) promotional play-offs at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Dube Birds came into this game needing a win against the University of Pretoria in order to retain their place in the PSL for next season.

Tuks dominated the majority of the first half as they searched for an opener, however, they couldn’t pass Maswaiswai’s solid defence.

Both sides had to settle for a goalless scoreline at half-time.

Back out for the remaining half, Swallows piled pressure on the visitors – taking control of proceedings but largely failed to break down Tuks’ back four.

As the second stanza progressed, the hosts continued to create more clear-cut chances to prevail over the Tshwane-based outfit.

When we thought the game will end in a stalemate, Yagan Sasman scored the much-needed goal in the 61st minute of the showdown to save the day.

In the end, it was Dylan Kerr’s side who claimed all valuable three points at home to finish top of the mini PSL promotional play-offs table with seven points.
