The one thing that has helped Andile Jali stay competitive

Mamelodi Sundowns midfield maestro Andile Jali has explained how at the age of 32, he keeps playing great football for his club.

AJ had a great 2021/22 campaign with Masandawana after completing a treble by winning MTN8, DStv Premiership and the Nedbank Cup. Jali played a huge role making 40 appearances out of a possible 49 games across all competitions.

“At a club like Sundowns, you must be ready to compete for trophies at the highest level. Therefore, it is critical to build one’s fitness because of the number of games the team plays every season. I am glad that I was able to stay strong and competitive throughout the campaign,” Jali told the club’s media.

The former Orlando Pirates star’s hard work was rewarded at the PSL Awards winning three from the five categories he was nominated for. He scooped the MTN8 Last Man Standing, Midfielder of the Season and the Nedbank Player of the Season.

“I am very excited to be recognised for my determination and passion for the team. These awards would not have been made possible without my teammates and the coaching crew.”

“We fought gallantly across every competition we participated in and I am proud to be part of another historic season with Sundowns,” said Jali after scooping three PSL Awards.
