Two PSL clubs forced to look for new home venues

Several clubs that participate in the PSL are faced with a serious dilemma to quickly find home venues for the remainder of the season.

There have been a few unsettled clubs in both the DStv Premiership and the Motsepe Foundation Championship this season.

Marumo Gallants have been the biggest movers using four different home grounds even before the season is concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs have also used Peter Mokaba in Polokwane, Moses Mabhida in Durban, and their usual base of FNB.

In the Motsepe Foundation Championship, All Stars have also struggled to get a home venue since relocating from Western Cape to Gauteng.

They have used the Giant Stadium as well as the Wits Stadium.

CLUBS FORCED TO LOOK FOR TEMPORARY SHELTER

The latest coming from the PSL is that both SuperSport United and Pretoria Callies have been forced out of the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. This comes after the stadium was closed by the PSL for the remainder of the season. It has failed to meet standards.

Callies are keen on taking temporary shelter at the Vaal stadium and other nearby facilities. SuperSport United are reportedly keen on utilising the Tshwane University of Technology Stadium for their small games.

“PSL needs the stadium to be renovated because its condition is not good,” Pretoria Callies team manager Nemulodi Ndinae told FARPost

“If you look at the tunnel to the dressing rooms, you can see when it’s raining, water pours inside the stadium. So, that’s one of the reasons they are stopping us from playing there.”

“We will see, but I think our game against TTM will be played in Vaal. That is where we will take that game on Wednesday,” Ndinae confirmed.

“Then the other games, we’ll see where to go if it’s not Vaal again. We’re also considering TUT, but if there will be plenty of activities there, we will go to Vaal.”

SuperSport United’s remaining DStv Premiership home matches are against TS Galaxy, AmaZulu, Stellenbosch and Kaizer Chiefs.
