Two PSL clubs leading chase for Farmer’s signature

Two PSL clubs have been in touch with Denwin Farmer’s camp about signing the Baroka defender when his contract expires in June.

FARPost can confirm that Farmer will not be going down to GladAfrica with Bakgaga after the Limpopo side was relegated on the last day of the 2021/22 season.

Maritzburg United and Sekhukhune United have contacted the former South African youth international’s representatives about signing the 25-year-old on a free transfer.

“We have received offers, but nothing is confirmed. Perhaps we could conclude in the next few days,” his agent, Paul Mitchell, told FARPost.

Both clubs have made offers, and the talented defender is set to decide in the next couple of weeks. Farmer spent the 2018/19 season at the Team of Choice, after joining them as a raw 21-year-old on a four-year deal, but only made three appearances as he struggled for game time.

At the start of the following season, he packed his bags for Limpopo, joining Baroka, where he became a vital cog in the last three seasons. However, the player has made it clear to the club that he will not be going with them to the second tier, with Sekhukhune the most likely destination.

He is aware of Maritzburg’s financial situation and is reportedly reluctant to join them, making Babina Noko the likely destination. The lanky central defender made his professional debut back in 2015 after breaking through the ranks at SuperSport United.
