We want to carry over the aggression – Morena

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena has challenged his side to continue raising their level ahead of Saturday’s Dstv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United.

Bafana Ba Style will lock horns with the Team of Choice at Harry Gwala with the kick-off set for 19:30 in the evening.

The Brazilians have been in outstanding form since the beginning of the season, having won 15 league games, drew 6 and only lost one, a run of form which has seen them move 18 points clear at the top of the table.

But on the eve of Downs’ league game against the Blue Army, the Bafana Bafana international says his side cannot standstill.

“It’s going to be a very difficult game for us. Usually, when we go to Maritzburg we are going to have to fight for everything,” said Morena.

“The most important thing for us as a team is that we have a process and that we are following our process, we take every game the way it comes.

“Going into the game we want to carry over the aggression, the hard work and the willingness to play. We created good chances and scored good goals, so that’s the most important thing we want to take.”

“We want to be able to convert the chances we create, we know they are going to play a very transitional game so we really need to be spot on when it comes to our counter-pressing and dealing with those situations as we did in the previous game.”

Masandawana have been following a busy schedule since they returned to football and have already faced trips to Richards Bay, Rustenburg, Limpopo, Cairo and Nelspruit.

Despite the busy schedule, the Tshwane-based outfit is expected to perform at a high level and deliver fruitful results.

“I think as players and the technical staff we take our recovery sessions very seriously, we work a lot on recovery. As a player playing every two days even when you are at home you have to try and be fresh and be in the right frame of mind,” he says in conclusion.
