Madrid enter Bellingham race

Spanish giants Real Madrid have entered the race for the signature of an English youngster.

Birmingham City product Jude Bellingham is one of the hottest properties in Europe, with several ‘big clubs’ vying for his signature.

The 18-year-old midfielder was recently linked with Liverpool, but Madrid have entered the race opening talks with a 90 million Euros bid for the Borussia Dortmund star.

Bellingham had an impressive 2021/22 season in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals and assisting another eight.

On top of becoming Dortmund’s youngest ever goal scorer, he has also cemented his place in coach Gareth Southgate’s England squads in recent months.

After selling Norwegian striker Erling Haaland to Manchester City this month, Dortmund are expected to only release the England international in a year, but there will be a serious battle for his services.

With the 2022 Qatar Fifa World Cup fast approaching, the teenager will be keen to play as many games as possible to have a chance of making the final Three Lions squad for the major tournament – this will push him towards staying at the Induna Park for the next season.

Dortmund have been struggling to compete for the Bundesliga title, with arch-rivals Bayern Munich dominating the domestic scene in the past decade.
