Newcastle join Man Utd in race to sign Nigerian star

Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen is seemingly attracting interest in Europe with two Premier League clubs reportedly keen to capture his signature.

Newcastle United and Manchester United are both said to be keeping a close eye on the Napoli forward.

Osimhen has been in great form for Napoli and the Nigerian is regarded as one of the best strikers in Serie A.

Earlier this week, the Daily Star reported that Man Utd admire Osimhen but would not be prepared to meet Napoli’s £100m price tag, while reports from Italian publications Il Mattino and CalcioNapoli assert that Newcastle too are keen on the 23-year-old but also recognise the difficulties in completing a transfer.

But a deal for Osimhen is still possible as the Magpies are eager to get to the front of the queue should the striker leave Napoli this summer.

With Cristiano Ronaldo recently turning 37 and 35-year-old Edinson Cavani likely to leave on a free transfer, Man Utd interim boss Ralf Rangnick has insisted that the Red Devils will need to bring in a young striker soon.
