Nurkovic eager to get scoring rhythm back

Kaizer Chiefs forward Samir Nurkovic is eager to get his scoring mojo back after recovering from a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines since September last year.

In February, the Serb returned to action and got on the scoresheet in the 3-1 victory over Chippa United recently. He has called on his teammates to maintain the same fighting spirit they produced against the Chilli Boys when they take on SuperSport United on Saturday in the DStv Premiership.

“We’re doing our preparations like for every game, working hard. We just need to continue with the same fighting spirit we had when we played the away game against Chippa United, and everything will be fine for us,” said Nurkovic.

The 29-year-old, who has made nine appearances this season, said he was hungry for goals.

“I’m feeling happy to be finally back on the field after such a long time with struggles and injuries. I’m feeling great; I can’t wait to be on the score sheet.”

He believes the presence of fans at the stadium will spur them on.

“I’m thrilled; it’s been so long since we had supporters on the stands. Our last game with them was about two years ago. A club like Kaizer Chiefs need supporters, they are like our 12th player on the field, and that’s our motivation.”
