Chiefs 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy: Ntseki identifies four reasons why

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership encounter on Sunday, and coach Molefi Ntseki identified four key areas where his team lost the game.

The hosts got the solitary goal five minutes into the second half when their Brazilian signing Higor Vidal forced an own goal from Brandon Petersen.

Here are four reasons why Ntseki feels they couldn’t come back after conceding in the 50th-minute goal.

MATCH SHARPNESS IN CHIEFS 1-0 DEFEAT

A disappointed Ntseki told SuperSport TV that his charges weren’t as sharp as their opponents four games into the new season. “We didn’t look as sharp as we were supposed to be,” Ntseki said. “On the physical side of things, I think we weren’t very sharp. We’ve got another full week for the players to recover. If you look back at the intensity of the game, they were more sharper than us.”

He will aim to sharpen the team before the next encounter against AmaZulu next Saturday.

SECOND ON EVERYTHING

He bemoaned that Chiefs were almost second on everything during the match.

“We were almost second on everything, whether in attack or in the box.”

Although Chiefs enjoyed more possession, Galaxy had a total of 17 shots while they had nine. The Rockets had 11 shots from outside the box compared to Amakhosi’s three.

WE WEREN’T AGGRESSIVE

The former Bafana Bafana coach believes they were less aggressive, especially after losing possession. “After losing possession, we weren’t aggressive. That is why we were second in everything. But I think on the balance of play; we applied ourselves. In terms of structure, we just made a mistake that led to the goal. But it’s something we can work on.”

POOR FINISHING

Ranga Chivaviro’s header from close range just went over the bar, while the man who replaced him in the 36th minute missed the target by inches. Molefi Ntseki believes that they could have won the game had they converted their chances. “It’s unfortunate that the chances we got, we didn’t bury those chances,” he said.
