Radebe named 2023 Afcon draw assistant

Former Bafana Bafana skipper Lucas Radebe will be one of the draw assistants for the group stages draw of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) due to take place in Cote d’Ivoire.

Radebe and former Cote d’Ivoire frontman Salomon Kalou will join Caf Director of Competitions Samson Adamu for the draw.

The group stages draw will be held on Tuesday night next week in Johannesburg.

Radebe was part of the South African team that won the 1996 Afcon.

Overall, Radebe made four appearances in Africa’s flagship football competition, having played in the tournaments of 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002.

He was also the captain of the Bafana squad during both the 1998 Fifa World Cup and the 2002 Fifa World Cup.
