Royal AM, AmaZulu share the spoils in KZN Derby

Royal AM and AmaZulu have played out to a goalless draw in the DStv Premiership clash at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams struggled to create any clear chances in the opening stage of the first half.

However, as the half wore on, the hosts looked the more dangerous side, and twice came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock.

After that initial burst of action, the showpiece began to settle into a slower rhythm, but it was Thwihli Thwahla who continued threatening more.

The game went into the interval with the scoreline still goalless.

In the second stanza, Usuthu worked themselves downfield, piling pressure on the home side- searching for an opener.

Their joy, however, was short-lived when John Maduka’s troops began to find something of a foothold in the match.

AM were cutting through the AmaZulu defence and forcing them into errors, and they operated a shoot-on-sight policy at times.

Brandon Truter’s side, on the other hand, barely ventured into AM’s half as the second half progressed.

The final whistle blew with nothing to separate both sides.

Despite the fact that the game ended in stalemate, it was utterly breathless, wildly unpredictable and wonderfully intense affair.
