SA defender on the radar of two Serie A clubs

A South African defender has attracted interest from two Italian clubs, according to reports.

Highly rated AmaTuks centre back Keegan Allan has caught the attention of Serie A campaigners Spezia Calcio and Hellas Verona.

Italian publication TuttoHellasVerona report that the two sides have identified the former Mamelodi Sundowns youth player as one of their summer targets after he had an impressive 2021/2022 campaign in the GladAfrica Championship with the Pretoria-based side.

Allan featured in 22 league games and scored three goals for Tuks as they nearly gained promotion to the DStv Premiership, only missing out through playoffs.

He leaves the club for free after the activation of a non-promotion clause in his contract – it clearly stipulates that he would move on if the club is not promoted to the top-flight.

Interestingly, the 21-year-old becomes the second South African young defender to attract overseas interest after Cape Town Spurs’ Rushwin Dortley who has been linked with a move to Denmark in recent weeks.
