After an impressive run in the Philly’s Games, the Doornkop Students trio of Kgothatso ‘Billiat’ Mathibe, 18, Slindile ‘Neymar’ Nhlapo, 18, and Sibongiseni ‘Thotho’ Gabuza, 20, have been snapped up by the PSL newcomers Sekhukhune.
The Snake Park academy went as far as the semi-final of the popular festive tournament, with at least five of their players catching the interest of PSL sides.
Mathibe, nicknamed Billiat after the Kaizer Chiefs talisman, plays as a striker and donned jersey number seven. Gabuza plays on the right wing while the skilful Nhlapo is often deployed on the left wing.
The three will continue with their development in the DStv Diski Challenge.
Pontsho Madumo of Cream Sport Agency, which manages the players, confirmed the development saying he believes the players will benefit immensely from the move.
“They’ll be based in the MDC, it’s big for them, the exposure they will get coming from the tournament as virtually unknown names. It’ll also give them the belief they will play PSL,” Madumo told FARPost.
