SA Spear of the Nation have one foot in the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs following their 2-1 win over BCM Stars in the replay of their first leg of the provincial playoffs at Mphetshwa Stadium on Wednesday.
This comes after weeks of uncertainty and legal battles between the two sides, following the ugly scenes at Issac Wolfson Stadium last month.
The victory puts Spears in good stead ahead of their away leg of the playoffs.
A brace from Thobile Mkhize earned Spears the much-needed win. He converted both goals from a penalty spot.
Meanwhile, Bongani Kama scored the consolation goal for the Gqeberha-based outfit, failing to score an equaliser as Spears maintained their shape on defence.
The date of the second leg clash will be confirmed in due course, with the winner joining the likes of Summerfield Dynamos (KZN), MM Platinum (Gauteng), Zizwe United (Western Cape), Mpheni Home Defenders (Limpopo) and Dikwena United (Free State). They have already qualified for the national playoffs.
