Spears to seek legal advice following arbitration ruling outcome

Eastern Cape outfit SA Spear of the Nation is set to seek legal advice over the arbitration outcome on a case in the first leg of the provincial playoff tie against BCM Stars last month.

The first leg of the playoffs was abandoned due to a clash between supporters.

However, in a turn of events, BCM won their appeal against the ruling handed down by the Eastern Cape Disciplinary Committee (ECDC) almost two weeks ago, which had ruled in favour of Spears, who were awarded three points.

Last Friday, the matter was heard at the Safa House, presided by Advocate Nazeem JC. The Gqeberha-based side has now won the arbitration, and the game will be replayed in a neutral venue which the Safa will decide.

“We are sad to announce that the arbitration judgement was released yesterday, Which leaves us with unanswered questions,” read Spears’ statement.

“Our legal team is handling the matter; they will offer advice and available avenues going forward.

“We are very aware that we are less than a month before the national playoffs, but we don’t want to be punished for right doings.”
