Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has confirmed he will leave the club as Amakhosi prepare for another technical team overhaul ahead of the new season.

Mzoughi, who quickly became a popular figure among supporters for his touchline celebrations and passionate personality, bid farewell to the club’s fanbase via his Instagram account.

Mzoughi departs alongside co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef. Strength and conditioning coach Majdi Safi has also left the club.

Mzoughi arrived at Chiefs as part of former coach Nasreddine Nabi’s backroom staff and quickly made an impression within the squad. He worked closely with goalkeepers Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, Takalani Mazhamba and Fiacre Ntwari during a season in which the club constantly rotated between the sticks due to injuries and form.

This season, the impact of his work was evident, as Brandon Petersen kept 18 clean sheets across all competitions. In the league, he kept 15, and in the CAF Confederation Cup, he kept three.
