TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi has confirmed that interim coach Bernard Parker will remain in charge next season, tasked with driving the club’s long-term project forward.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker took over as a coach towards the end of last season following the departure of Adnan Beganovic.
Despite the 2-1 loss in the 2026 Nedbank Cup final in his first match in charge, Parker ended the season without a defeat in the four league matches, including the famous 3-2 win against Mamelodi Sundowns, which had a huge impact on the league title.
Speaking at the Bafana Bafana send-off ceremony on Wednesday, May 27—ahead of the team’s departure for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North Africa on Monday—Sukazi all but confirmed that the 40-year-old will take the reins as head coach next season.
TS GALAXY BOSS BACKS BERNARD PARKER TO SUCCEED AS A HEAD COACH
“Look, now I don’t even need to speak volume. I mean logic, you have to follow reason and logic,” Sukazi told journalists.

“So here we are with a young coach, a South African football legend who has all the qualities and credentials required to succeed. He has fuelled himself and pulled us out of the doldrums.”
TIM SUKAZI EXPLAINS THEY ARE GOING AHEAD WITH FORMER BAFANA BAFANA STRIKER AS A COACH
“After we had lost nine out of ten league games, he had to coach the remaining five, and he hasn’t lost a match since. The true test for him was playing Mamelodi Sundowns. You know, after the big talk when we beat and eliminated them in the Nedbank Cup, there were complaints about our pitch at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium being too small. They said Teboho [Mokoena] and Ronwen [Williams] didn’t play.
“So, I said to [Miguel] Cardoso, let’s go to Mbombela Stadium—it’s a big pitch. Bring Teboho, bring Ronwen, and we still won. So, it’s not just a simple question of Parker winning games,” he added.
“I think it took his football acumen to devise a winning strategy; he has shown great signs. So, the question we pose to the country is: is it not logical, and would it not make perfect sense for Parker to remain in his coaching position as we continue to develop him?
“Of course, when the pressure picks up, we have the option to shield him if needed. That responsibility is upon us, but this momentum has to be continued at TS Galaxy.”
