Swallows won’t be easy, warns Lentjies

Chippa United interim coach Kurt Lentjies has warned his charges that their next DStv Premiership game against relegation-threatened Swallows FC won’t be easy.

On Saturday, the Chilli Boys came from behind to draw 2-2 against Baroka, and Lentjies praised their fighting spirit. The stalemate left the Gqeberha outfit still positioned 13th on the log with 28 points, as they continue searching for their first win in Nelson Mandela Bay in two years.

“Great fighting spirit from the guys, we could have won it in the end, but it wasn’t meant to be. It was a good game with four goals, two per team; let’s appreciate the point we got today,” Lentjies said.

“The commitment, desire and fighting spirit are always there. The belief was there even after 2-2; we could’ve made it 3-2. The guys are always fighting; the guys are always giving what they should be giving.”

However, the former Chippa skipper said next Saturday’s visit to Johannesburg would be tough. The Bids are fighting for survival and need every point to escape relegation. They will be hoping to get maximum points when they host Chippa at the Dobsonville Stadium.

“Swallows in Dobsonville will be another big game; we have to prepare and rebuild, bring the body back, then take it from there, one day at a time,” he added.
