Teenager jailed for racist abuse of Rashford

Justin Lee Price has been jailed for six weeks after sending a racist tweet to England and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

This happened after the Euro 2020 final, where England lost 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out following a 1-all draw after extra time.

Rashford missed his spot-kick, prompting a wave of abusive messages on social media.

The court was told how the 19-year-old trolled Rashford as he watched the game from the bedroom of his Midlands home.

“Price targeted a footballer based on the colour of his skin, and his action was clearly racist and a hate crime,” said Senior prosecutor Mark Johnson.

“I hope this case sends out the message that we will not tolerate racism and offenders will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
