Ten Hag targets Ajax winger

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has set his sights on a Brazilian winger.

Antony Matheus dos Santos has been sensational since joining Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam from Sao Paulo in 2020, helping the club win back-to-back Eredivisie titles.

The 22-year-old continued his rise last season, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions and assisting a further 10 strikes as Ajax clinched their 36th league title.

Ten Hag was the coach who brought the attacker to Europe, and he has now made him his first target at Manchester United where major changes are expected in the new era.

United could do with a right winger following the recent departures of Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani – and with Mason Greenwood’s future also uncertain at the moment.

On the international stage, Antony has played nine times for the Brazil national team, scoring two goals, and he will be hoping to win a place in their squad for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

He would bring speed and skill to the United forward line considering that he is familiar with the style of football Ten Hag will hope to introduce at Old Trafford.
