AmaZulu overtake Kaizer Chiefs in Pule Mmodi race?

Golden Arrows midfielder Pule Mmodi’s agent Solomon Seobe from SR Sports Management has given an update on his client’s future amid speculation linking the player to Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu.

Mmodi was one of the most talked about subjects in the previous transfer window, with Amakhosi poised as his next destination. However, Arrows and the Soweto giants reportedly failed to reach the transfer agreement.

The 29-year-old’s contract at Abafana Bes’thende will come to an end in June 2023.

Thus, from January onwards, the former Uthongathi star, Mmodi will be allowed to put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with any club of his choice.

Meanwhile, Seobe says that they haven’t held any talks of a possible contract extension with Arrows.

Moreover, Seobe has confirmed to FARPost that AmaZulu are the only club that has made an enquiry about Mmodi and are keen to make a move in January.

AMAZULU MAKE ENQUIRY ABOUT PULE MMODI

“The only team that has approached us is AmaZulu,” Seobe told FARPost.

“Kaizer Chiefs never approached us and we haven’t sat down with Arrows to talk about (contract extension).

“AmaZulu always wanted Pule even before Kaizer Chiefs and now they want him in January.

“As for Kaizer Chiefs, I didn’t hear anything.

“They are aware that his contract is coming to an end at the end of June, so from January, they will be able to negotiate a pre-contract or approach Arrows to sign him.”

Usuthu recently offloaded the attacking midfielder Sibusiso Magaqa who joined Royal AM and have even more reason to sign Mmodi to bolster their offensive midfield.

Meanwhile, Chiefs are desperate for a playmaker and are aware that this might be their last opportunity to snatch the Arrows star.

MMODI’S PERFORMANCES REWARDED BY BROOS

Mmodi, who’s had impressive performances especially in the early stages of the season, was rewarded with a Bafana Bafana call-up by Hugo Broos.

The attacker was part of the squad that played two international friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana in September.

Mmodi has made 13 appearances and netted four goals in all competitions for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit this season.
