“This is our show of intention that we are not just going to compete this year, we are going to win the Super League,” said UWC Sport Director Mandla Gagayi.

Last season, the university side finished in third place, 20 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

“We competed last season and learned a few lessons, so we will win the league this campaign so that we can compete at Caf level. We have one team that has done so successfully [Sundowns Ladies], we want to be the next team,” he added.

UWC Ladies also confirmed Leah Sweetness Masango as the new assistant coach to work with head coach Thinasonke Mbuli.
