We know what to do in Madrid, says Guardiola after 7-goal UCL thriller

Manchester City tactician Pep Guardiola says his troops will seek to raise the level of their performance once again next week in Madrid to reach a second successive Uefa Champions League final.

Guardiola’s men secured a 4-3 victory over Real Madrid at the Etihad on Tuesday evening in what was an incredible semifinal first-leg clash.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva were countered by a Karim Benzema brace and strike from Vinicius for Madrid.

Man City hold a one-goal advantage heading to the Spanish capital for next Wednesday’s decider.

“We know we have to raise the level or do better to get to the final and we have to convert the chances,” said the Man City coach.

“But we won the game and we know what we have to do to win the game in Spain.

“It’s a good test for us. We have to try and be ourselves

“Football is always the result but we performed exceptionally. Like the way played in the last two games against Brighton and Watford and today – this is what I want. I’m not going to say one word that we deserve more.”

In the second semifinal first leg, Liverpool will host Villarreal tonight (21:00) at Anfield.
