Will Nongoma survive the chop under new coach?

KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League outfit Nongoma FC will be facing a mammoth task to stay in the South Africa football third-tier when they return for the second round of the league.

Nongoma currently sit at the basement of Stream A of the Provincial ABC League with only a point from 11 outings.

In the wake of a difficult start for the club in the 2021/22 season, the side’s top management under the leadership of chairman Mbuyiseni Buthelezi, who has made swift strides in replacing their previous technical team following a string of poor results, has appointed well-travelled and experienced coach Nyaniso Mfihlo as the new head coach of the side.

The chairman believes that the club will be able to survive the chop under the tutelage of Mfihlo given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.

“Nyaniso commenced with his duties in the office and with a mandate to protect the team from the relegation zone. The top management wishes him all the best,” read the statement.

It would not be at all surprising to see quite a few players being brought in to bolster the team in this January transfer window period, with others being shown the door.

The Provincial ABC Motsepe League will kick off this coming weekend after the festive break with Nongoma locking horns with Asande FC away from home.

The big question still remains, will Mfihlo do the unthinkable with the KZN-based club? Well, there’s only one way to find out.
