Golden Arrows snatch Hungry Lions duo

PSL seasoned campaigners Golden Arrows have completed the signing of a highly-rated Hungry Lions duo, FARPost can reveal.

The two Hungry Lions players become Golden Arrows’ first signings since the end of the 2022/23 season.

Golden Arrows ended the season on ninth position on the DStv Premiership after a rather indifferent campaign.

WHO GOLDEN ARROWS SIGNED

And as they prepare to start their pre-season on the 25th of June 2023, the club signed Angelo Van Rooi and Olwethu Ncube from Hungry Lions.

The two were instrumental in the last seasons for the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.

Golden Arrows are riding high after winning Van Rooi who was also being targeted by the 2023 Nedbank Cup runners-up, Sekhukhune United.

Cape Town City were also aiming to lure Van Rooi but Golden Arrows were swift in entice the 26-year-old.

FARPost has it on good authority that Van Rooi and Ncube signed three year contracts, with options to further extent their stay at the club.

The two contributed a combined five goals for Hungry Lions last season. Striker, Van Rooi scored three goals in 27 matches while Ncube was on target twice.

And despite the low numbers, Arrows settled for the highly rated Hungry Lions duo.

Van Rooi comes in as a valuable addition especially that the club might lose Pule Mmodi who is being targeted by Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

Arrows has over relied on Pule Mmodi and Knox Mutizwa in their attack.

And therefore they have started to make moves in the off-season for additional players for more firepower.

On the other hand, they will likely lose Divine Lunga when his loan from Mamelodi Sundown ends.

After a modest 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, Arrows will be hoping to improve next season.

Meanwhile, Arrows co-coach Vusi Vilakazi will have a lot to prove this season, having been one of the be-littled PSL coaches.
