Lehlohonolo Majoro: ‘I am a qualified radiographer but..’

Ex-AmaZulu FC striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has opened up on why he is not keen to take up radiography, although he possesses the qualification.

He acquired a National Diploma in Radiography from the University of Johannesburg [UJ] over a decade ago.

The 37-year-old striker, Lehlohonolo Majoro, may only have made his professional debut at 24. But Majoro, is one of the few footballers armed with a formal education that could sustain him beyond the field.

However, the Ladybrand-born forward appears to have other plans despite possessing the highly-rated qualification.

Majoro is doubtful that he will one day take up radiography jobs since he has already taken a new path to remain relevant in football circles.

“I am a qualified radiographer. But in terms of football, I’ve known football throughout my life more than being a qualified someone. Football is what I know,” Majoro told FARPost.

“I see myself being in football. And I would like to share my experience and also help upcoming stars that never believe that they can be professionals. Coming from a small town to Johannesburg and playing for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates should be something kids from disadvantaged communities look up to”.

At the moment, he is unattached, but he has played for AmaZulu FC, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City FC.

While he has been clubless, Majoro has been relentless in acquiring his coaching qualifications.

So far, he has completed the CAF C coaching license. He has credited his former coach, Romain Folz, for encouraging him to take up coaching courses.

Meanwhile, Majoro refuted claims that he has retired from football. He insisted that an announcement will be made when he takes the decision to quit. Where he will end up next season remains to be seen.
