The driving force that made Kaizer Chiefs successful

Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung has revealed the driving force that made Amakhosi the most successful team in South African football history.

The Glamour Boys was founded on the 7th of January 19970 by Dr Motaung, who played as a striker for Orlando Pirates and Atlanta Chiefs in North America.

The Soweto giants have won 13 league trophies, four of which were won in the PSL era.

To add to that, the side has also won over 22 club titles in the SA top flight, making them the only team with the most trophies amongst all teams in the country since its formation 53 years ago.

With that being said, Chiefs are the most supported club in the country.

When Dr Motaung was asked what gave him the courage to go ahead to form his own club, he said: “The driving force that actually made it even stronger was my father who gave me courage.

“He said to me ‘Listen if this is the route you have to undertake, you must have believe. If you have people who can support you around you, there’s no way that you cannot succeed’

“I had to bring people with expertise to do whatever they were supposed to contribute. So, all about teamwork.

“We are fortunate to be involved in a sporting environment which talks teamwork all the time.”
