Gambia book spot in Afcon quarterfinals as fairytale run continues

Gambia continued with their fairy tale run at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after narrowly edging out Guinea 1-0 in the round of 16 at the Kouekong Stadium on Monday evening.

Musa Barrow scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute to ensure that the underdogs Gambia book their place in the quarterfinals of Afcon for the first time ever.

The Scorpions remain unbeaten in their debut appearance at Africa’s showpiece after four matches with three wins and a draw.
