Veli Mothwa pays homage to the late Madisha

AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa has remembered his late friend and homeboy Motjeka Madisha on what would have been his 27th birthday.

Madisha died in a car accident on 12 December 2020 in Kempton Park. He was buried on 6 February 2021.

Sunday marked a year since the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender departed. Madisha would have turned 27 on 12 January.

The Veli Mothwa Foundation paid a visit to the Madisha family at Ga-Madisha-Leolo Village in Limpopo on Sunday and presented them with a framed jersey from the AmaZulu Keeper.

“I still have not come to terms with what happened with Madisha, it is still painful,” Mothwa told FARPost.

“I wouldn’t say we were very close with Motjeka but we would meet every December at home because I would ask him to come and support my tournament and he used to support me.

“So when a player comes from my village and supports me in everything that I do, especially to uplift the community, I feel so good. So with this frame that I sent to the family with the t-shirt written his name is a token to say whatever happened to the family also happened to us as Veli Mothwa Foundation,” he added.

“I feel like I am part of the Madisha family and everything that the Veli Mothwa Foundation achieves, we will make sure that Motjeka Madisha remains there and we will remember him in everything that we do.”

The framed jersey was received by Madisha’s parents.
