The SA Football Association (Safa) have confirmed the appointment of advocate Nazeer Cassim SC as the arbitrator to hear the matter between Kaizer Chiefs and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Wednesday.
Chiefs didn’t honour their DStv Premiership games Cape Town City and Golden Arrows in December due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases at their base in Naturena – Soweto.
The club was hit with 50 positive Covid-19 cases and as a result, Amakhosi wrote to the PSL to have all their four matches in December postponed. However, the league threw Chiefs’ application out of the window.
And PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu charged the Soweto giants to appear before a disciplinary committee (DC) for failing to pitch up for the two matches.
Amakhosi referred the matter to Safa arbitration and the PSL DC hearing has been postponed to 25 February.
“Advocate Cassim has been appointed to do the matter between Chiefs and PSL and it will be heard on February 9,” said Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe as quoted by TimesLive.
“Both parties have agreed on Cassim and it’s all systems go now.”
