Ellis names Banyana squad for AWCON qualifiers
Banyana Banyana mentor Desiree Ellis has announced a 24-member squad to face Algeria in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.
The first leg will be played on Friday, 18 February at Orlando Stadium, with the away clash (second leg) scheduled for 23 February in Algiers, Algeria.
Banyana recently suffered a 3-0 defeat to Zambia’s Copper Queens in an international friendly match, and will be looking to rectify their mistakes against the North Africans.
The two-time Caf Women’s Coach of the Year beefed up her squad with eight overseas-based players to the team that travelled to Zambia.
Meanwhile, Asanda Radebe of Sunflower FC was also included into the team to replace the injured Noxolo Cesane.
