Lebusa expects Sundowns to respect Mathaithai
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa says they will not undermine the South African football third-tier side Mathaithai FC in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 encounter.
Bafana Ba Style qualified to the last 16 after crashing Richards Bay 4-0 in the tournament’s last 32 at Princess Magogo Stadium a fortnight ago, whereas the Free State-based outfit got the better of NC Professionals 2-0 at the GWK Park this past weekend.
The 29-year-old centre-back reckons that Mathaithai can cause an upset for Masandawana if they take them for granted.
“We don’t want to undermine them because they can pull a shocker on us and cause an upset for us if we undermine them,” he said.
“We are playing a team that we know little about, which makes them a bit dangerous for us.”
However, the former Ajax Cape Town man insists they will approach the game in a professional manner and give their opponents the respect they deserve, but most importantly, they will make sure that they win the match.
“We will go to this game 100% focused, give a 100% performance and be professional. The approach is always the same, whether we are playing a team in the PSL or the lower-league teams,” Lebusa added.
“The main point is to win the game, and we try by all means to win our games.
“Games are not the same; sometimes it’s hard, but we push through, we make sure that we make our opponents tired, and towards the end of this season, it will come down to quality, and our quality will always pull us through the line.”
