Upington City bolster squad

Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit Upington City FC have confirmed the acquisitions of Carl Lark, Vuyisile Ntombayithethi and Booysen Sambok.

Lark, 28, joins the high flying side from Steenburg United. He has already played one game and scored one goal. The frontman also represented teams such Santos, Stellenbosch FC, Cape Umoya United, the now-defunct sides Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits.

Ntombayithethi, who plays as a defensive midfielder comes in with extensive experience which will add value to City. The 35-year-old Cape Town-born played for the likes of Chippa United, Golden Arrows, AmaTuks, FC Cape Town, Mbombela United, Stellenbosch FC, Tornado FC and Steenburg United.

Meanwhile, Sambok, 25, joins ‘Bafana Ba Gucci’ on loan from Hungry Lions. The right-winger previously had stints with Free State Stars and FC Cape Town.

“We are blessed to have this bunch of winners. A determined and hard-working group of players,” said the club’s chairman Vusi Ntimane.

“We are grateful and appreciate their commitment to the brand Upington City Football Club.”

City are currently on the summit of Stream A standings with 26 points, just a point ahead of second-placed His Desire Sports Academy.

The side’s next assignment will be against Mainstay United on Saturday, 19 February at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium at 15:00.
