Buthelezi sets record straight on hijacking incident
TS Galaxy shot-stopper Melusi Buthelezi has set record straight on the hijacking incident that happened three weeks ago in Soweto.
The 24-year-old goalie was travelling with his brother from visiting their ailing mother when the incident occurred at a petrol filling station in Soweto.
As a result, the duo suffered stab wounds and were admitted to the hospital for medical attention.
“I feel I’ve fully recovered. I’m not feeling any pain at all where I was stabbed. My brother is also okay, he’s recovered. I was actually speaking to him this morning. He’s in high spirits,” said the Mpumalanga-based outfit goal-minder.
“What happened is that we had gone to see my mom who wasn’t feeling well. As we were driving that evening coming from seeing her around 7pm we saw two guys approaching us. When they came out of their car we knew it was a hijacking. We decided we could stand them and because we didn’t make things easy for them so they decided to stab us.
“I think I’m okay, I’m one person who accepts things that have happened and move on with my life.
“Mentally and physically I’m in perfect shape. Sometimes you can be involved in an accident and fail to let it pass.”
The former Jomo Cosmos man went on to say that he succumbed to a decision not to open a case because in the area where the incident happened there were no cameras therefore it was going to be a mammoth task to gather evidence.
“I decided not to open a case with the police because putting together the evidence was going to be difficult. Where the incident happened there were no cameras, it’s an area where there’s not much activity. So I thought opening a case would be tricky. I’ve been able to deal with it,” he added.
“Luckily the car was found by my car tracker. The car had dents though, I don’t know what they were trying to do.”
Buthelezi has been instrumental for the Rockets since making his debut for the side against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup last 32 of which they won 1-0.
