AmaZulu midfielder Matarr Ceesay has been called up in the Scorpions squad for their Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023 preliminary qualifiers against Chad.
The former Gambia Armed Forces and Young Scorpions captain has been rewarded for his brilliant debut season with Benni McCarthy’s side.
The 22-year-old joined Usuthu st the beginning of the season and has been a regular in Benni’s team featuring in nine league matches while notching four CAF Champions League appearances.
The West Africans will be hoping for another taste of Africa’s flagship tournament when they face Chad in Yaoundé and Agadir for a place in the group stage of the qualifiers.
Chad will host The Gambia in Yaoundé, Cameroon on 23 March before the Scorpions welcome them in Agadir, Morocco six days later.
